“We feel it was our mandate as a committee to translate a version of
the Bible for the English-speaking world. Now, we all speak
different kinds of English depending on where we’re from. We want
this to be an international version translated into what we consider
to be standard, average English. We want this to be a translation
that will be readable and usable in 2008, 2010, 2012, and beyond.
That means that if anything perhaps we erred on the side of what we
might call the younger generation in trying to figure out the
English that we want to translate into because we think that’s the
target we need to hit.”

Wheaton College Graduate School, Wheaton, Illinois

“The TNIV offers another opportunity to convey the
message, the true meaning, of the Bible because it does reach out
to—and connect with—today’s generation.”
